A set of Rear Brake shoes R90 approved, fits the Hilux Pickup KUN25 and KUN26 models as listed in the Specs and Fitment, supplied by Kavo of the Netherlands. These new shoes now come with handbrake pull levers attached to suits all applications (see below).

About the shoe:

Kit contains 4 individual "E" Marked shoes to replace both rear brake drum sets
The shoes now come with with handbrake levers attached to suit all applications - on some models (depending on Country of origin) the handbrake levers were rivetted to the shoes thus preventing them being removed and swapped over to shoes sets that did not have levers attached - this is a major point and makes these shoes one of the few brands that do have the levers attached (see images).
Shoes are suitable for the 295mm drum fitted to the KUN25 & KUN26 models
Each shoe has a friction material of approx. 6.0mm.
Each shoe carries the manufacturer logo, part number, and R90 markings.

Quality assurance Guide & R90;

Type-approval to R90 is required for all replacement brake linings sold throughout the European Union and in non-European countries that have adopted ECE Regulations, this is why RoughTrax have taken the decision to ONLY provide our customers with a friction material that meets this standard.
Quite simply R90 Testing has helped stop cheap, poor, and inefficient brake pads flooding the European Market from overseas, safety is absolutely paramount so drive with peace of mind and look for the R90 sign.
Pads/Shoes hold approvals for both ECE Regulation 90 and the German KBA (TUV) standard. Needless to say, many of their braking products exceed these standards to ensure better performance and improved safety.
R90 requires all pads/shoes not to deviate from the friction compatibility, brake fade, and speed sensitivity of the original brake component by more than 15%.

So all in all a brand you can really put your trust in.

Do I need anything else to fit?
Not always, however, the brake fitting kit which contains clips and springs etc may be worthwhile as these can deteriorate with age, springs lose their spring tension, retaining cups and pins can corrode.
Brake Cleaner... a must when working on any brakes!!

Anything else to look out for?
Always check the wheel cylinders for weeping by pulling back the rubbers and checking for fluid, any sign of fluid behind and the wheel cylinder and it's on its way out!
If you have oil leaking into the drum area and it's not the wheel cylinder then you could have a leaking rear inner axle seal, bearing or a blocked axle breather.
Check rear drums for cracking or wear.

What about adjustment?
Personally, I would always back the handbrake cable right off or even disconnect, check that all pivots are free and back off the self-adjuster to fit the new shoes. Once fitted and you are happy everything is operating as it should, refit the drums (Remove the wear ridge on the drum if necessary) and wheels, then with a flat screwdriver adjust the ratchet through the oval slot in the backing panel until you just feel the shoe rub the drum whilst spinning the wheel, this will give you a good feel of the shoe to drum clearance.
Once you have set both rear shoes sets to the drums, refit the handbrake linkage and adjust up. Doing it this way ensures a good pedal and importantly a good handbrake.
