A 100% brand new front section of the rear prop shaft complete with centre bearing fitted for the Hilux Pickup Mk5 KDN165 models between 2001-2005, manufactured in the UK by IMS for RoughTrax.
IMS manufactured prop shafts are professionally balanced individually and proven with a technical balance certificate enclosed with each prop shaft.
About the shaft:
- Manufactured in the UK to the original design specification for RoughTrax.
- Complete with a technical balance certificate enclosed.
- Fitted with Matsui UJ with thick internal circlips at the gearbox end - only one UJ is fitted to this shaft section.
- CNC Computer generated machining processes for flanges and uprated splines for increased shaft life-span.
- The latest PBM7 Balancing machine is used on every shaft - after which each shaft is individually marked for alignment.
- BSI registered and approved to Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008.
- IMS are accredited suppliers to GKN, Dana Spicer, Voith UK and many GKN operations in Scandinavia and European countries - these names speak volumes.
- Quality of this shaft is plain to see in the components used which is why RoughTrax has now chosen to our UK manufacturer for this shaft.
- The rear prop on the Mk5 is split into 2 parts, this section is the front part of the rear prop shaft from the Gearbox to the prop centre bearing carrier, what's more, also comes complete with a new centre bearing carrier and flange fitted as per our image (Transfer box to Centre Bearing).
Top Tip:
The prop-shaft centre bearing must be mounted to the chassis cross-member the correct way up in order to reduce the overall angle of the rear shaft, the bolt mounting tabs of the centre bearing carrier are NOT central to the bearing itself so worth paying close attention to this point when assembling back up to the chassis.
Please note:
Always grease shaft prior to fitment - a shaft should be greased every month if working in harsh conditions.
Our images also shows the fitting position of the shaft.

Questions & Answers for IMS Rear Prop Shaft - Front Section - KDN165
Please do check the following tips given for shaft installation:
a) The prop centre bearing hangs at its lowest point when bolted to the cross member, this creates the least amount of angle through the entire two shafts from G/box to Rear axle -
The centre bearing “tabs” are not central to the centre bearing and can be bolted the wrong way up.
b) All fixed yolks of the shafts should run in parallel, again, this could be 90° out when bolting the large double joint of the rear section shaft to the centre bearing flange.
c) Please spin the shaft up after installation to ensure nothing is rubbing the prop centre bearing rubber.
