A pair of Rear brake shoe adjusters for the various Hilux Pickup and Hilux Surf models listed in Specs & Fitment. The adjuster fits between the two opposing brake shoes, adjusting the ratchet setup will force the shoes apart towards the drum and so giving correct clearance from shoe to drum.
The adjusters are handed, Left and Right, each adjuster has a stamped L & R at one end so as not to get them mixed up, basically, it's just the internal thread that is different, the Left-hand adjuster has a left-hand thread for the ratcheting purpose.
These adjusters are often found seized which will effect the shoe to drum clearance, poor adjustment will result in a poor brake pedal, often with excessive travel.
They come zinc plated and as a pair, great quality and as per the original design, manufactured by Karsons, our leading suppliers of axle, suspension and brake hardware components.

What about adjustment?
Personally, I would always back the handbrake cable right off or even disconnect, check that all pivots are free and back off the self-adjuster to fit the new shoes. Once fitted and you are happy everything is operating as it should, refit the drums (Remove the wear ridge on the drum if necessary) and wheels, then with a flat screwdriver adjust the ratchet through the oval slot in the backing panel until you just feel the shoe rub the drum whilst spinning the wheel, this will give you a good feel of the shoe to drum clearance.
Once you have set both rear shoes sets to the drums, refit the handbrake linkage and adjust up. Doing it this way ensures a good pedal and importantly a good handbrake.
